About the Academy and Staff

Kelley McIver - Director, Instructor, Choreographer

  Kelley was a principal dancer for Norwegian Caribbean Cruise Line, with the Jean Ann Ryan Dancers, in the Sea Legs Revue, where she performed throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. She has danced in several commercials and was a featured dancer in INTERNATIONAL DIET PEPSI.  Her stock and regional credits include:  "A Chorus Line" and "Best Little Whorehouse In Texas". She has studied with dance masters such as Gregory Hines, Gus Giordano, Savion Glover, Al Gilbert and many others. 

Her choreography and students have won top awards in regional and national dance competitions.

Several of her past students are currently professional dancers.  Kelley has danced since the age of three, taught since the age of twelve and has trained extensively in all forms of the art of dance.

Decatur Dance Academy

 Decatur Dance Academy offers a family-like atmosphere with professional quality dance training. The academy has three fully equipped studios with hardwood floors.  The DDA staff of instructors are dedicated to teaching the proper and correct technique of dance.  The staff continues to perform and take class as well as attend national conventions and workshops instructed by internationally renowned teachers in order to provide students with updated teaching techniques and choreography.

 Through the expression of dance, our goal is to inspire and instill a sense of self-confidence and self-esteem by developing poise and coordination, rhythm, flexibility and general body toning. Dance benefits include discipline, teamwork, accomplishment and fun!  Dance is an excellent background for cheerleading, sports, poms, drill & dance team, musical theatre, swing choir, and professional careers.
